Former US President and President-elect Donald Trump dined Wednesday with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at Mar-a-Lago, his secret club in Florida.
The meeting comes as a critical exchange between the Republican lawmaker who was once banned from social media platforms and the Facebook creator.
Before Trump’s White House visit, Zuckerberg was one of several business leaders who was invited to speak about the president’s financial plans. Stephen Miller, recently appointed deputy chief of staff for Trump’s subsequent name, described Zuckerberg’s presence as representative of the software party’s interest in supporting Trump’s perspective for the country.
” Mark, naturally, has his own interests, business, and agenda”, Miller said during a Fox News meeting. ” But he’s made evident that he wants to support the nationwide renewal of America under Trump’s leadership”.
A Meta spokeswoman confirmed the supper, pointing out that Zuckerberg was invited to meet with the president-elect and members of his team to discuss the approaching administration’s policies.
Growing relationship
The meeting took place nearly three years after Twitter, then Meta, banned Trump following the January 6, 2021, Capitol harm. In the first quarter of 2023, the app restored his accounts.
Zuckerberg has maintained a neutral position during the 2024 presidential strategy, avoiding testimonials. He has since expressed a more favorable opinion of Trump, praising the former president’s management of a previous execution attempt and criticizing reported pressure from the Biden administration to liberal Covid-19-related content.
Despite this change, Trump has continued to attack Zuckerberg officially. In July, he revived the name” ZUCKERBUCKS” on Truth Social while threatening to arrest election swindlers, directly referencing the technical CEO.
Musk’s growing responsibility
Elon Musk and Tesla’s X-ownership are increasingly important to Trump’s political stance, according to the Mar-a-Lago meal. Musk, who has contributed approximately$ 200 million to Trump’s campaign through his political action committee, has been a frequent visitor to Mar-a-Lago.
Musk has been tapped to co-lead an advisory board dubbed the” Department of Government Performance” also reportedly called’ DOGE’, alongside venture capitalist Vivek Ramaswamy, another high-profile supporter of Trump. The panel’s objective is to identify and get rid of state waste.
