Sage ‘ designed’ to cause’ massive and unfathomable harm,’ to pro-life professors, lawful filing says
Sage Publications and pro-life researchers continue to battle retracted content.
According to the lawful filing, Dr. James Studnicki and his fellow artists filed a lawsuit against Sage Publications to have mediation compelled after the publishing house pulled three reports from its list for supposedly “pretextual and unfair reasons.”
A second article examined abortionists and admitting protections, as recently reported by The College Fix, while the other two examined the link between abortion medication and emergency room visits.
According to the Ventura Superior Court collection, this Sunday will be the day of the arbitration standing event.
” Sage’s wrongdoing has ]caused ] enormous and incalculable harm to the Authors ‘ professional reputations, as Sage intended”, the legal filing at the California county court alleges.
Health Services Research and Managerial Epidemiology has published all of its articles over the past few years. Following the controversy surrounding the studies ,Studnicki joined the academic journal board, but he lost his position. All three documents can be read at a Charlotte Lozier Institute site, assaultonscience. nonprofit.
Additionally, Studnicki was previously an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and the University of North Carolina’s Charlotte school.
The 2021 study, which found emergency room visits were linked to abortion drugs, “remains the second most-read article in]the journal’s ] history”, according to the arbitration suit. But, it received criticism in 2023 when a federal judge cited it in his decision to stop President Joe Biden from loosening the laws governing contraception pills.
The creators claim that Sage treated them separately than pro-abortion artists, including forbidding associations for them and enforcing caveats for their peers.
They tried multiple times to mediate, but to no avail, according to the lawsuit.

Attorney Phil Sechler from Alliance Defending Freedom, Phil Sechler, wrote to The Fix for more remarks in a press release.
He said the firm “did not offer a genuine purpose” for correction. ” The analysis was beautifully done and adhered to Sage’s newspaper plans”, Sechler, who is representing the scholars, told The Fix.
The authors ‘ affiliation with a pro-life team, in this case the Charlotte Lozier Institute, did not affect the studies as there was a double-blind evaluation method, Sechler said. According to Sechler, the reviewer and the author were not aware of each other’s identities, and there were reviews that did n’t involve pro-life organizations.
According to Sechler, “political involvement is never a valid justification for retracting an article.” Sage ought to be aware that “censorship is really bad science.” Essentially, Alliance Defending Freedom today” simply asks to arbitrate this situation in front of an impartial judge with no further delays.”
In the past few days, Sage Publishing has not responded to an email request for comment.
The paper’s editor-in-chief, Gregory Garrison, even did never respond to an email and a phone left in the past two weeks.
An activist for integrity in scientific posting, who edits a technology news magazine, said publications should be clear and steady with standards.
Ivan Oransky, co-founder of Retraction Watch, said the issue is that when “publishers or articles” use “different requirements for various documents”,” that leads to trust”. He usually discussed censorship and corrections with The Fix. He is the editor-in-chief of The Transmitter and a columnist in residence at New York University.
In a phone interview with The Fix, Oransky admitted that there must be universal rules that must be followed. He is actually in favor of more corrections nevertheless.
He thinks this is the best way for publishers to allow the scientific process to work and become more accurate.
He claimed that repression exists between the political parties, though maybe one side is more persuaded than the other.
