After his wife Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, former US President Bill Clinton admitted to experiencing mental turmoil and tiredness, according to the New York Post.
In his new memoir, Citizen: My Life After The White House, he described his anger and apologised for his behavior,” I could n’t sleep for two years after the election. I was so angry, I was n’t fit to be around. I repent to all those who endured my irate rants, he said. ” The whole thing is hard for me to write”, he added.
Clinton blamed the election result on Russian intervention, former FBI director James Comey’s research into Hillary’s letters, and press coverage, calling it the “darkest vote possible in the United States”. According to Kathleen Hall Jamieson, a social scientist, Comey’s steps and Russian attacks had an impact on voters. Clinton added,” If but, Putin’s drivers were Comey and the political push”.
Clinton even addressed his relations to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile. He confirmed flying on Epstein’s helicopter but denied always visiting Epstein’s private beach. He regretted the relationship, saying,” Traveling on Epstein’s airplane was not for the decades of questioning afterwards. I regret not meeting him. He explained that although he found Epstein “odd”, he had no notion about Epstein’s acts, saying,” He hurt a lot of people, but I knew nothing about it”.
Clinton also made a second appearance in his 2018 NBC discussion about the Monica Lewinsky sex incident, which involved him and White House apprentice Monica Lewinsky. He recalled being asked if he had ever apologised to Lewinsky and regretted how he handled the explanation problem. He responded,” No, I felt terrible then”, admitting it was” not my finest hour”.
The exact sexual harassment complaint was the basis for the impeachment of Clinton. During pre-trial witness, Clinton denied having a physical connection with Monica Lewinsky.
