The U.S. Capitol Police detained a staffer for a Democrat representative on Monday after attempting to enter the Cannon House Office Building with weapons. Afterwards, the employee was fired because of the event.
According to Axios, a U. S. Capitol Police director identified 38-year-old Michael Hopkins, the communications director for Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N. Y. ), as the team part involved in Monday’s security event.  ,
In a statement to Fox News, the U. S. Capitol Police said,” At about 8: 45 a. m., a House employee entered the , Cannon House Office Building , and put his case through testing. What appeared to be weapons on the x-ray camera was noticed by USCP soldiers.
” After a finger research of the bag, officers found four weapons magazines and eleven rounds of ammunition”, the U. S. Capitol Police added. The employee informed the soldiers that he had forgotten the weapons was in the bag.
The 38-year-old Democrat worker is now facing charges for the unlawful possession of weapons, including a charge for the hands of a high-capacity publication, according to Fox News.

Following Monday’s protection event, Jo Stiles, Morelle’s chief of staff, issued a declaration explaining that Hopkins had been fired. ” In response to this week’s affair, Mr. Hopkins is no longer employed by Representative Morelle’s business successful immediately”, Edwards said, according to Fox News.
Reynolds explained that the New York president’s office was gathering additional information regarding the subject prior to the news that Hopkins had been fired as a result of the incident at the U.S. Capitol on Monday morning.
Our company was informed this morning that a part of our team was being detained by Capitol Police, according to Reynolds in a speech obtained by Rochester First. We are now looking into the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Edwards stated that Morelle’s business was “fully committed” to helping with the Hopkins ‘ security incident at the Cannon House Office Building. According to Tiles, Congressman Morelle, the Committee’s ranking part on the House Administration, is dedicated to making sure a safe and secure office is available to everyone.
