The remarkable story of the Ontario Human Rights Commission fined a small area$ 15, 000 for “discrimination” because its president, Harold McQuaker, refused to fly the Pleasure flag or acknowledge Pride month at the request of a local Gay group has been covered by Sarah Anderson and Ben Bartee, both of whom are PJ Media contributors.

” I find that$ 15, 000 is an appropriate amount of payment for Borderland Pride’s injuries to respect, thoughts and self-respect”, Ontario judge Karen Dawson wrote in her determination. Borderland Pride is a “2SLGBTQIA + Pride organization serving the Rainy River District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada and Koochiching County in Minnesota”. They demanded that the small town follow their wishes and the tribunal’s of Ontario’s, or suffer the consequences.
In addition to the great, McQuaker and his town executive are being forced to attend LGBTQ awareness training, i. e. indoctrination sessions. No Socialist society may exist without them.

McQuaker, a thick 77-year-old French, is slowly resisting. The city council did meet to decide whether to pay the fine that the Ontario Human Rights Council has assessed.
” I have a lot of respect for our four ministers”, said the governor. They may decide that and what to do after our unique council meeting. Either pay the fine or make an appeal.”

McQuaker subtly remarked that one of the causes they didn’t sail a Pride flag is because they didn’t.
” I don’t love anybody”, he said. ” We just don’t have a flag at our city hall”.
Borderland Pride, yet, called never granting the action a “bigoted and unfair selection”.
An open letter from the team’s co-chair and producer, Douglas W. Judson, asked government to submit an “apology”, have “diversity and incorporation training for government, and a commitment to follow Pride proclamations in the future without stripping out their 2SLGBTQIA+-affirming language”.
Additionally, the letter states that Borderland Pride may contribute one-third of the financial settlement the city has paid to the Emo Public Library, with the exception of having a move history time event that is free to all of us to go on a date of our choosing this year.
Well, that’s not going to happen.
” I did not do anything wrong”, McQuaker countered. ” ]If ] anybody needs training it’s the LGBTQ2+ to quit pushing their weight around and make demands that people can’t live with”.
In a brutal display of power politics, this town of about 1,400 people has been the subject of the provincial government’s entire weight.  ,

” I am a husband to my wife for 51 years, father of two, a grandfather of seven and a great grandfather of one”, McQuaker said. ” I would have a lot of support if there was an election and I consider myself a very reasonable person and a good leader for our community,” he said.
” I will not be extorted”, he added.
According to a statement from Borderland Pride,” What we are seeing is a public temper tantrum from a public office holder who has been encouraged by the pattern of attacks on institutions and the rule of law from the political right.”
Not much of a “temper tantrum” from a 77-year-old, soft-spoken Canadian.
