Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare, was fatally shot in Midtown Manhattan, and his wife Paulette Thompson revealed that her father had been receiving threats due to his tragic passing.
She claimed in a statement to NBC News that his position as division head of the health insurance company’s department may have contributed to the threats.
” Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage”? she said, referring to Brian’s position as CEO of United Healthcare’s plan department.
But, she admitted she didn’t know the full particulars, as her father had only briefly mentioned them. Paulette said during a phone interview,” I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”
Family left in horror
The pleading lady acknowledged that she was informed that the murder was likely a “targeted attack” by the authorities. Struggling to come to terms with the loss, she added,” I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now. I only learned this, and I’m attempting to comfort my kids.
Brian Thompson, 50, was shot shortly Wednesday night outside the Hilton Hotel on 6th Avenue, where he was attending UnitedHealth Group’s Investor Day event. Thompson was shot several times by the veiled assailant while riding a bike around the scene while armed with a gun with a silencer.
Police Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the dying as a “premeditated, premeditated, intended attack”.
The suspect, who was clad in a black sweater and a black mask, was seen lying in wait before pulling the trigger, according to the New York Post.
Thompson was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital by initial firefighters who performed CPR, but he soon succumbed to his wounds.
