According to NBC, the restrictions may pose an obstacle to the receiving Trump president’s plans to apprehend and arrest millions of illegal immigrants quickly, leading the president-elect to declare he will soon change ICE plan when he takes office.  ,
The Washington Examiner contacted the Trump administration for comment, but it was unable to get a response at the time of release.
In a 2011 memo titled” Enforcement Actions at or Focused on Sensitive Locations,” ICE second adopted the plan. The advice was replaced ten years later by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who also issued the” Guidelines for Enforcement Actions in or Near Secured Places” directive.
” Absent demanding conditions, DHS officers and officials may seek prior approval from their agency’s headquarters or an official member before taking an enforcement action in or near a guarded area”, Mayorkas’s 2021 policy state. Any police steps in or close to a protected area may be taken in a non-public location, away from the public eye, and to reduce or negate the likelihood that the action will prevent people from entering the protected area.
