Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) argued that President Joe Biden is seeking to” Trump-proof” the state before he leaves the White House next month, which will see President-elect Donald Trump been inaugurated on Jan. 20.
” And that’s what is so dreadful about this”, Lee said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. ” They’re trying to Trump-proof our state to protect themselves from the poll”.
In response, Lee addressed a recent bill that Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA ) introduced and would repeal the Impoundment Control Act. The act he co-introduced may help remedy this, according to Lee, explaining how this “ties the hands” of presidents to preventing them from” cleaning up clogs” like the world’s loan.
Trump’s national campaign brought up the issue of reducing government spend ahead of the 2024 election, when the newly elected president-elect established the Department of Government Effectiveness. Some Republicans have praised DOGE as a way to getting to work after Trump takes office, which is being led by billionaires Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, both of whom are Trump allies.
In promoting his legislation to overturn the Impoundment Control Act, Lee noted how this act had “kick-start” DOGE’s goal.
It’s ironic to stop the President, America’s Chief Executive, from saving tax dollars and eliminating wasteful spending.
Proud to create this bill along with @Rep_Clyde to overthrow the Impoundment Control Act and kick-start the @DOGE goal! https ://t.co/9GBP3sy6Sa

The Utah lawmaker also referred to Trump’s desire to end heritage citizen and claimed that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution might be able to help in this regard. In particular, Lee points out that” subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is a term that” can and should get defined by Congress,” and that” all people born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are residents of the United States.
Trump earlier this month, he announced his plans to close heritage citizenship, stressing the necessity of doing so and calling it “ridiculous.” He even stated that he intended to end it during his first year in business, but he shifted his focus to addressing the COVID-19 epidemic.
