To combat international crime, French officials suggested the establishment of a joint Canadian-American police force.

Ottawa stated in a press release that it would consider the construction of a” North British Joint Strike Force to combat international coordinated murder” as part of its new Border Plan. According to Politico, the approaching borders emperor Tom Homan and foreign affairs minister Melanie Joly reportedly received the information of the program through a Monday mobile telephone.

The American Cabinet released its Canada Border Plan, resting on five pillars: monitoring and disrupting the morphine trade, introducing major innovative tools for law enforcement, enhancing operating coordination, increasing information sharing, and minimizing unwanted border volumes.

The enhancing operating coordination foundation, which lists the development of the mutual strike force as a component of wider efforts to improve coordination, was unveiled with regard to the creation of the joint strike force.

According to the press release, “increased information sharing between Canadian and United States ( U.S. ) officials on each illegal border interception enables officials to target and take stronger action against those who abuse our system,” “allowing for improved intelligence sharing in real time, monitoring of illegal migration trends and hot spots, improved operational interoperability, proactive resource planning and deployment, and ultimately, the targeting and disruption of organized crime groups facilitating illegal border crossings.”

According to Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Mike Duheme,” The proposed investments will help the RCMP keep our borders strong, in full collaboration with our domestic partners across government and with our partners in the U.S.” ” These investments strengthen existing measures by creating new, purpose-built tools for law enforcement and enhancing our ability for aerial surveillance. We anticipate receiving more information as soon as they become available about the potential operational effects of these new investments.

LeBlanc addressed the possibility of Donald Trump’s éventuel influence on the plan.

It’s a significant step in demonstrating to Canadians and our American partners that we share their concerns regarding border integrity and security. We have taken note of President Trump’s comments”, he said, according to Politico. He added that there’s” a lot of work to do”.

In recent months, Canada has undergone a radical change in how it feels about immigration and relations with the United States, largely as a result of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent decline in the polls.

The U. S.’s northern neighbor has liberal immigration policies, with 1 in 5 Canadians being born abroad. One of the largest migration waves in the country’s history was allegedly caused by the ruling Liberal Party, which it contends is necessary to maintain economic competitiveness in today’s society. The majority of immigrants to Canada are accepted under the “economic pathways” program, which means they have some level of skill or education that benefits the country economically.

This argument was undercut by an inability to properly recover after the&nbsp, COVID-19&nbsp, pandemic. The Liberal Party’s popularity has fallen dramatically in the polls, putting the Conservatives in position for a likely victory in late 2025 because of the economic system’s anger and a significant wave of immigration.

Canada has welcomed 3 million new migrants since the COVID-19 pandemic, shooting the population up from 38 million to 41 million people in just a few years. This growth saw&nbsp, housing&nbsp, costs rise, breeding popular discontent.

In October, Trudeau suddenly announced a major reduction in new immigration. The new plan, which was proposed by immigration minister Marc Miller, required a 20 % reduction in the number of permanent residents by 2025 and continued to decrease by roughly 4 % annually through 2027. From 2024 to 2025, the total planned number of immigrants will be reduced from 500, 000 to 395, 000.

The expected number of nonpermanent residents is down by hundreds of thousands, marking its first-ever maximum.

Trudeau even echoed some of Trump’s rhetoric when he vowed to change, claiming that businesses were hiring immigrants “while refusing to hire Canadians for a fair wage.”

After the president-elect threatened a 25 % tariff on Canadian goods if it didn’t stop immigrants from entering the United States, Trudeau traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump last week.
