Donald Trump, the president-elect, has a penchant for winning, but he has also relegated some of his cabinet positions to people who share a common goal: losing the Georgia Senate votes.
Doug Collins
Former Peach State representative Doug Collins has been nominated as secretary of veterans affairs after running repeatedly for the Senate in 2020.
” Doug , is a Veteran himself, who currently serves our Nation as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve Command, and fought for our Country in the Iraq War. We must take care of our brave men and women in costume, and , Doug , will be a great argue for our Effective Duty Servicemembers, Veterans, and Military People to confirm they have the help they need. Bless you,  , Doug, for your willingness to serve our Country in this very significant function”! Trump said in a speech announcing the interview.
After he resigned from the Senate at the end of 2019 due to waning health, Collins ran in the special election for the remainder of Sen. Johnny Isakson’s (R-GA ) term.
In the November 2020 vote, he finished second behind Republican Kelly Loeffler, who had been appointed as an interim substitute for Isakson in the Senate, and Democrat Raphael Warnock, but failed to advance to the January 2021 discharge. Collins finished with 19.95 % of the vote, compared to Loeffler’s 25.91 % and Warnock’s 32.9 %.
Collins resigned from the House of Representatives in January 2021. He stated in response to Trump’s announcement that he would “fight hard to optimize and cut regulations in the VA, main out corruption, and maintain every senior receives the benefits they’ve earned.”
Kelly Loeffler
Loeffler served as a Georgia lawmaker from 2020 until January 2021, and Trump announced earlier this month that she would guide the Small Business Administration.
” Kelly , did bring her experience in business and Washington to , reduce , red audio and , unleash , option for our Small Businesses to expand, develop, and thrive. She , may target on , ensuring that SBA is accountable , to Citizens by cracking down on waste,  , fraud, and , regulation overreach”, Trump said in the speech announcing her nomination.
Trump even commended Loeffler’s day in the lower chamber of Congress, calling her a” great warrior”.
Loeffler was chosen by the governor. After Isakson resigned, Senator Brian Kemp (R-GA ) will serve until a possible special election is held in November 2020. She began her name in the Senate on Jan. 6, 2020, and advanced to the runoff for the 2020 election, where she faced off against Warnock.
The Jan. 5, 2021, Georgia Senate runoff saw Warnock beat Loeffler, 51%-49 %. She left the Senate on Jan. 20, when Warnock was sworn into office.
After leaving the Senate, she was one of Trump’s top sponsors and was named to co-chair his inauguration commission for the Jan. 20, 2025, service and supplementary activities. Upon her election, Loeffler said she was “deeply honored” by the nomination.
David Perdue
Former Sen. David Perdue, unlike the other applicants, did get a Georgia Senate election, but lost his reelection charge in 2020. Trump earlier this month appointed him as his Chinese embassy.
” As a Fortune 500 CEO, who had a 40-year International company occupation, and served in the U. S. Senate,  , David , brings important expertise to help build our relationship with China. Trump nominated Perdue for the position, saying that he has spent the majority of his occupation living in Singapore and Hong Kong and working in Asia and China.
He will play a significant role in the implementation of my plan to keep peace in the area and a fruitful collaboration with China’s leaders.  , David , has been a faithful follower and companion, and I look forward to working with him in his new part”! he added.
In the 2020 Senate vote, Perdue defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff to win a majority of the vote, but because he fell short, the competition ended in a runoff on January 5, 2021. In the runoff, Ossoff defeated Perdue, 50.61%-49.39 %, ousting the Republican from his seat.
In the GOP primary for the 2022 Georgia gubernatorial election, Perdue defeated Kemp to win the election, which Trump had fought over false allegations involving the 2020 election. Kemp easily defeated Perdue in the May 2022 primary 73.72%-21.78 %.
The former lawmaker claimed that after Trump made this statement earlier this month, he was” really recognized” to accept the nomination.
In a post on X, Perdue wrote,” Having lived in Asia on two occasions, I understand the gravity of this responsibility. I look forward to implementing President Trump’s strategy to make the world safer again and reflect the United States ‘ interests in China.”
Herschel Walker
Herschel Walker, who played sport for the University of Georgia and the NFL, was another Georgian Senate member who lost. Trump announced his nomination for him on Tuesday as his adviser to the Bahamas.
” During my First Term, he served as Co-Chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Herschel has visited more than 400 military deployments all over the world to break the silence that surrounds psychological illness. He represented the United States at the 1992 Winter Olympics as a member of the U. S. bobsled team”, Trump said in a speech.
” Thanks Herschel! You will make Georgia, and our entire Nation, proud, because we know you will always put AMERICA FIRS T”! he added.

Walker ran against Warnock in the 2022 Georgia Senate vote, advancing to a December 2022 discharge, but eventually lost 51.4%-48.6 %. The former football player graduated last week from the University of Georgia, 42 years after finishing his school football job there.
The chamber in which they all aspired to meet, the U. S. Senate, will have to confirm all of the jobs for which the former Georgia Senate aspirants have been nominated.
