On Nov. 5, Americans spoke loud and clear: They wanted an end to the sluggish government and a halt to the foolish, unchecked saving that’s drained the treasury of our nation. What did they receive, exactly? A Democratic success. Now it’s time for House Republicans to begin acting like they won.
House leaders released their 1, 547-page monster of a spending bill later on Tuesday evening, a so-called” going resolution” that purports to finance the government through March of 2025. Despite the authority from November, business as usual is still in place in Washington.
Inside this so-called” going quality” is a collection of spare, with tax dollars going toward immoral pet projects — as pointed out by my colleague Shawn Fleetwood— like money for” National music tourism”,” consumer safety requirements for certain types of capacitors”, a pay raise for Congress, and a one-year extension of the State Department’s International Engagement Center ( GEC ).
The GEC “funded the development of repression equipment” that hushed speech online — including that of The Federalist, as explained by The Federalist’s Margot Cleveland.
Johnson contends that Republicans “CAN NOT allow millions of Americans to go without the aid they sorely need” or are “disgusted by the legendary hurricane season.”
Fair— but if that’s the situation, why isn’t Johnson demanding a solo act for disaster pleasure? Make it simple for Johnson to reveal to Democrats why they would oppose a clear relief bill without attaching any political baggage. Johnson is squandering the time, though, rather than taking it.
It makes no sense go another progressive CR then, according to Florida Republican Rep. Greg Steube who posted this on X on X.
” Why are Democrats working together to keep Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi’s paying levels at three more weeks? A traditional costs that reflects our interests and delivers actual results to the British people should be promoted.
The truth is that the American people voted for a governmental system that prioritizes their needs and a system that promised to reduce waste. The Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ) was established in response to that promise. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy may serve as the pair’s leaders for DOGE. But as The Federalist’s Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway said recently on Fox News, Congress is the single greatest problem standing in the way of fulfilling that mission.
At this point, it’s evident: Speaker Johnson needs a back. Perhaps he will have enough money to buy one in the CR.
