Employees at a sizable hospital in Staten Island, New York, have joined the protesters, demanding better pay and safer working problems after the International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced a strike against Amazon that threatens to stymie the holiday shopping season.
The Staten Island Amazon service, known as JFK8, employs more than 5, 000 employees, and about 100 of them joined the picket line earlier Saturday, who were flanked by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
James praised the staff, saying” the legislation is on your side” and that” Amazon doesn’t just share the benefits of your hard work at the top.” You must be being paid, according to them.
The$ 24 an afternoon income, according to several employees who spoke to the New York Times, isn’t enough to make ends meet in Staten Island, a neighborhood of New York City, which has the highest cost of living in the country.
” They’re own paying us”, said Thomas Clowery, who has worked at the Staten Island service since 2018.
However, among the state where workers are dramatic, Amazon’s$ 22 per minute income is higher than each of their country’s minimum-wage salaries.

The leader of the local coalition in Staten Island placed the blame entirely on Amazon for any potential problems for holiday consumers.
” Amazon is jeopardizing the getaways for users so they can try to make more money.” The ALU-IBT Local 1 leader, Connor Spence, said that Amazon employees are up for the company to eventually treat them with respect.
That was in line with the declaration made by Teamsters President SeanO’Brien when the hit began.
” If your item is delayed during the holidays, you may blame Amazon’s voracious ambition. We gave Amazon a set amount of time to come up with ideas and conduct business with our customers. They disregarded it. These outrageous executives had every opportunity to behave politely and revere those who make their vulgar profits possible. Otherwise, they’ve pushed staff to the limit, and then they’re paying the price. This attack is on them”, he said.
Amazon has refuted many of the Teamsters ‘ states, and it stated on Saturday that the facility’s operations were unaffected by the Staten Island attack.
In a statement released on Friday, the online retailer even denied that there had been any frequent shipments of goods to customers.
Our transportation system was designed to fulfill the promise made by our customers. We firmly believe in the strength of our system, and we are prepared for unexpected events to minimize any possible charges or administrative ramifications.
The Teamsters were criticized earlier this week by a company representative, who claimed the federation was continuing to “intentionally mislead the public.”
The Teamsters have been intentionally misleading the public for more than a year, claiming to represent” thousands of Amazon workers and individuals.” They don’t, and this is another attempt to push a fake narrative”, said Kelly Nantel, an Amazon spokesperson. The Teamsters have deliberately threatened, intimidated, and attempted to coerced third-party drivers and Amazon employees into joining them, which is against the law and is the subject of numerous pending unfair labour practice charges against the federation.

The Staten Island service is the only place where Amazon workers, who were once a part of an independent coalition called the Amazon Labor Union, have successfully fought labor. The coalition partnered with the Teamsters in June of this year after losing help from the workforce and struggling to gain from Amazon.
The Amazon attack began on Thursday of this week at 6 a. m. at websites in Skokie, Illinois, Atlanta, Southern California, New York City, and San Francisco.
