A lawmaker from Missouri wants to overthrow the prohibition on weapons silencers, similar to those that are alleged to have been used in the New York health insurance executive’s hitman-style murder earlier this month.
State Rep. elect Mike Costlow, R-Dardenne Prairie, and express Sen. Nick Schroer, R-Defiance, introduced regulations that would prevent the trial of the act of possessing or selling a cannon suppressor. Additionally, the legislation would attempt to protect Missouri-made handguns from federal prosecutors.
According to Costlow, the initiative aims to assist hunters and other weapons enthusiasts in preventing hearing loss.
” They are generally hearing security”, Costlow said. ” I have a lot of friends who have hearing issues”.
The drive to legalize handguns comes in the wake of alleged shooter Luigi Mangione’s alleged use of the item in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a New York road.
Costlow said he hopes that function doesn’t bomb his request.
” I can understand why optics would say it’s terrible timing”, he said. ” But it would have been the exact result whether or not he had used a silencer.”

Schroer appears to recognize there may be legal issues with allowing the tools to be sold in accordance with the legislation.
