At least five people were hurt when a man drove his delivery truck through a business in Killeen Mall in Texas on Saturday, according to police, who shot and killed him. According to the Texas department of public health, the man was fatally shot following a 19-mile police fight.
According to Sgt Bryan Washko of the Texas department of public security, a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for suspected drunken driving around 5 am at the time of the event. The vehicle fled, leading authorities on a 19-mile fight from Belton to Killeen.
The chase ended when the passenger entered the Killeen Mall driving bunch and struck the JCPenney store’s glass windows. According to Washko,” The believe drove through the gates and continued to travel through the JCPenney business, striking several people,” as reported by CNN. Officers shot the vehicle as they fled the store, but the officer eventually fatally shot the driver.
Five damaged
According to a CNN review, five people were injured during the event. One man went there alone, and four were taken to the hospital. ” There are folks in these shopping for their families, their kids, their friends, loved ones, and these kinds of things we don’t like to see, certainly, and we pray for their recovery”, Washko said of the patients.
Suspect’s identity never revealed
The suspect’s identity has not been released. ” We need to find out who he was, where he’s coming from, why he’s running”, Washko said. ” All those questions need to be answered”.
Eyewitness accounts
The vehicle was seen entering the store through the testimony ‘ eyes, Nathan Carrasco. According to a CNN review, there were “people lying on the floor with glass everywhere,” Carrasco said, adding that persons rushed to assist a person and a harmed young woman.
