According to legal defense officials, a small plane carrying 10 people crashed into shops in the tourist capital of Gramado in southwestern Brazil on Sunday, despite initial reports that no one was hurt.
” However, preliminary studies indicate that the plane’s occupants did no survive”, Governor Eduardo Leite said in a post on social media app X.
At least 15 people were taken to the state’s hospital, according to the Rio Grande do Sul state’s public safety company, the majority of whom were exhaled by the blaze that the accident sparked.
According to authorities, the helicopter reportedly crashed into a furniture store after first striking the flue of a building and then the second floor of a home. Debris even reached a nearby lodge.
Gramado, which is located in a mountainous area of Rio Grande do Sul, is the most well-known tourist destination there. The government’s economy was greatly impacted by unparalleled floods earlier this year, which claimed dozens of lives, destroyed infrastructure, and greatly impacted the area’s economy.
The crash occurred just days before Christmas, which is a particularly busy time for the area, which is customarily decorated with decorations and hosts colorful events.
