Donald Trump, the president-elect, made a suggestion on Sunday that, at least for the moment, he might aid allowing TikTok to remain operating in the United States. He cited the victory his political campaign’s success on the platform, which he claimed had received billions of views, in a speech to a crowd of traditional supporters in Phoenix, Arizona.
One of the most obvious indications but that he opposes any prospective ban on TikTok in the US was his remarks. By the time the US Senate passed a law mandating that ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, withdraw the app due to concerns about national security.
ByteDance has attempted to enact a legislation blocking it, and the US Supreme Court has agreed to have the situation reviewed. One morning before Trump takes office, TikTok could face a legally imposed restrictions on January 19 if the court rules against ByteDance and there is no sale.
The Senate’s overwhelming approval of the buyout buy leaves no way to be resolved by Trump.
Speaking at AmericaFest, an annual meeting organised by conservative party Turning Point, Trump told the group,” They brought me a chart, and it was a record, and it was so wonderful to see, and as I looked at it, I said,’ Probably we gotta stay this sucker around for a little while.'”
Trump even met with TikTok’s CEO on Monday and expressed his love for the game, attributing his party’s victory to its software.
Some politicians support the claim that TikTok’s relationship to China remains a major threat to national security, supported by the US Justice Department. Twitter disputes these claims, claiming that Oracle’s US servers house user data and content suggestion engines, with US-based content moderators even making decisions.
