TOI Correspondent from US: US President elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Chennai-born, Indian-American entrepreneur and venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan as senior policy advisor for AI at the White House office of science and technology policy. Krishnan is known to be close to tech billionaire Elon Musk, who co-leads Trump’s department of government efficiency. It was widely expected that Krishnan would join Team Trump after he recently resigned as a general partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).
In a statement, Trump stated that Krishnan may work carefully with David Sacks, who lately was appointed the government’s advisor to science and technology, to ensure continued American leadership in AI.

Krishnan, a software entrepreneur and VC, has led item groups at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap, and is well known and respected in the Indian American society. He hosts a famous audio’ The Aarthi and Sriram Show,’ along with his family Aarthi Ramamurthy.
Rishi Kumar, a software professional from Silicon Valley and author of the book Winning the AI Arms Race, believes Krishnan’s session is a positive step in the right direction. It’s encouraging to observe Washington getting things straight. With the nomination of Krishnan as senior policy advisor for AI, I am pleased to see that Silicon Valley’s innovation-driven heart is now officially integrated into the highest rates of AI policy.
