President-elect Donald Trump is vying with San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu to defend one of the country’s most liberal places. &nbsp,

If the incoming president honors his promise to go after sanctuary and other places if they don’t, the 54-year-old is expected to play a dominant part in the battle to keep Trump at sea.

Democrats ‘ legal opposition is likely to be more difficult this time around because Trump and his team have taken lessons from mistakes made during their first name. The Trump administration also has the lower hand in Congress, where Republicans control both chambers and a lot in the Supreme&nbsp, Court. &nbsp,

In an appointment with the San Francisco Chronicle, Chiu said,” Trump has said he is going to go after people and any areas that do not do what he wants.” He also suggested that there could be criminal prosecutions. So there is a lot of problem around the nation about what that means. But … we have to have up for our societies, and we will”.

Chiu has now begun working with cities and counties throughout the state in order to prepare for the possible events that may occur after Trump sworn in on January 20, 2025. &nbsp,

Additionally, Chiu has appointed a deputy town counsel to concentrate only on legal issues involving Trump. Chiu is one of a group of lawyers from across California who has requested that the state legislature release$ 10 million for the reason. &nbsp, &nbsp,

He promised to fight for the legal standing of anyone who was born in the United States, regardless of their mother’s legal standing. Trump has railed for centuries against heritage membership, which is protected by the 14th Amendment. &nbsp,

” We’re gonna have to get it changed …&nbsp, but we have to stop it”, he told NBC’s Kristen Welker. ” If we can, through&nbsp, executive action. I intended to take professional action, but in order to repair Covid first, let me be honest with you.

The 14th Amendment, which was ratified in 1868, guarantees membership to people born in the country. &nbsp,

” All folks born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction there, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside”, says the Constitution. &nbsp,

Trump said he would try to end heritage membership “if we can” through an executive get despite this.

Chiu emphasized the importance of newcomers and said he was ready to accept Trump. &nbsp,

” Privately, as a child of refugees, the danger to our immigrant societies could not be more powerful … Our economy is based on our immigrant groups”, he said. ” If he were to reverse heritage membership, it would be catastrophic for our capital, our position, and our land”.

Chiu’s father, &nbsp, Dennis Herrera, succeeded in several constitutional fights against Trump. &nbsp,

In January 2017, Trump’s first quarter as chairman, Herrera&nbsp, filed a lawsuit&nbsp, against an executive order Trump signed attempting to deny national funds from sanctuary cities, such as San Francisco, that limit cooperation with national immigration authorities. Trump was not allowed to carry out the plan that was stated in the order, despite the success of the lawsuit.

Chiu’s combat isn’t limited to refugees ‘ right. He is preparing to push back on vaccinations, sexual freedom, LGBTQ right, and climate change.

These are not the fights we wanted to own, but if Trump does, we will do everything in our power to defend our area and our people, Chiu said. &nbsp,
