Royal Caribbean has suspended its excursions to Manzanillo, Mexico, following a Quality 4″ Would Not Journey” expert from the US department of state, which cites common violent crime and theft as the main concerns. The US government has issued its highest alert level with this expert.
What is stated in the state department’s caution?
The US state agency’s warning says: “Do never vacation due to violence and theft. Violent crime and group activity are common. ” The expert more information, “Most homicides are targeted killings against users of criminal organizations. Shooting happenings between criminal organizations have caused injuries or fatalities to spectators. U. S. people and LPRs have been victims of theft. ”
Royal Caribbean has decided to suspend all excursions to Manzanillo despite the advisory’s permission for US state employees to travel there. Travel by US federal employees is restricted to Manzanillo’s tourist and port areas, according to the expert. Employees of the US authorities are not permitted to travel to different Colima state locations, it added.
The state department’s Level 4 alert sites Manzanillo in the same type as Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea, among different areas.
Despite the expulsion, Royal Caribbean’s website also lists Manzanillo as a place, indicating possible future cruises if the advice is lifted. The cruise line describes the town on its website, stressing its “golden shorelines” and “emerald forest.
Princess Cruises, owned by Carnival, apparently also has excursions scheduled to Manzanillo in the forthcoming weeks.
Violent crime in Colima position
Colima, the state where Manzanillo is located, has a crime rate five times higher than Mexico’s regional average, according to a New York Times record. The little Pacific coast condition has a death rate of 22 per 100,000 people, one of the highest in the world, according to the Latin Times. Between January and October of this year, Colima reported 623 murders.
New violence in Manzanillo
After a hit at a nearby bullfight in Manzanillo last week that left two people dead and several others injured, infamous gang director Jose “El Chabelo” Isabel was killed in a shootout with police in the area.
Another travel instructions
The state office also issued a Stage 3″ Evaluate Journey” warning for Puerto Chiapas, Mexico, due to rising crime rates. Norway, Holland America, and Princess Cruise lines usually operate excursions to this Mexican place. Puerto Chiapas is said to be the single major cruise line that continues to operate. The alert on Puerto Chiapas says, “Reconsider go according to crime. Statewide, there may be legal action and crime. ”
