Chinese: Taiwan’s National Office staged on Thursday its second table model of China’s military actions in the region to raise the island’s preparation against “authoritarian growth”, a security official said.
Table exercises are a tool used by strategists to simulate how real-world scenarios might develop, analyzing how different organizations may respond to and act in response to a given threat.
A national security official speaking on condition of anonymity told AFP the Thursday night training, led by the president’s office, involved 19 key departments, local governments and NGOs.
In response to autocratic rise by China and other nations as they continue to challenge the global order, they said, “it aims to strengthen Taiwan’s whole-of-society military resilience.”
China claims the self-ruled peninsula as part of its territory and has not renounce using push to support its language, even though Taiwan regards itself as a sovereign state.
Since Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te took office in May, China has mounted military and political pressure on the beach. It has also conducted three big military exercises.
The official claimed that the model examined Taiwan’s response to “high-intensity grey zone businesses” by an attack, which are “on the verge of fight.”
The protection official claimed that China’s simulations of Taiwan’s readiness were based on theoretical drills conducted this year that targeted a proper chain of islands that included Taiwan, Japan, parts of the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Taipei accuses Beijing of escalating so-called “grey area” abuse by flying warplanes and naval warships around Taiwan almost everyday.
In October, Taiwan said it detected a document 153 Chinese military aircraft in a 25-hour time, after Beijing held large-scale training which it said served as a” harsh warning” to” Taiwan independence troops”.
