After a poor controversy performance in President Joe Biden‘s last year in office, Democrats were left to find a course to take. Just weeks before the 2024 election, they found themselves scrambling to find a way forward.
What many Democrats saw as a solid State of the Union effectiveness, the season started off on a positive note for the leader. However, some observers began to doubt his mental capacity for four more years of employment over the course of the time.
After the June political debate, Biden’s political outlook slowed down in the summer, with his frequently wandering responses and confused looks giving Democrats serious cause for concern about the prospects of his candidacy. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX ), the first senator, and Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT), the first Democratic lawmaker to call for him to resign.
One top Democrat told CNN in July that” there is a noticeable change in the leader from the flower to the summer. ” He’s just not the same”.
After Democrats began making demands for return, Biden backed Vice President Kamala Harris in July and endorsed her as the party’s nomination. She lost the race to President-elect Donald Trump by a small over 2 million votes nationwide.
Some Democrats continue to blame Trump for their lost this month following the election.  , The government’s decision to forgive his brother, Hunter Biden, has even sparked reaction from a large number of Democrats.
The president’s companions were lost along the way, so here they are:
Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Earlier this year, Biden honored Speaker Emerita , Nancy Pelosi , (D-CA ) by awarding her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, saying she would be remembered as the “greatest speaker of the House of Representatives in history”.
” She used her power to complete some of the most important rules in our nation’s history”, Biden said in May. ” On Jan. 6, Nancy stood in the breach defending politics. … Nancy is a beautiful, practical, ethical, and determined head”.
Pelosi is probably Biden’s most important friend this year, despite the fact that he has lost him. Pelosi confirmed in August that she had not spoken with the leader since he left the contest in July after Biden left in July.
Some speculated that Pelosi, oftentimes seen as” the Godmother” of the Democratic Party, was pulling the strings to get lower-ranked members of the party and her close allies, including then-Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA ), to call upon Biden to drop out. She rejected these statements.
Pelosi told the New Yorker before the election that she had concerns about the vote and Biden’s chances of winning. Quickly after Biden left, she said. She emphasized that she was still focused on preventing Trump from taking office and that any decisions she made would ensure that” Donald Trump would not step foot in the White House afterwards.”
” But my problem was: This ain’t happening, and we have to make a choice for this to happen”, she said. The leader must make the choice for that to occur. Citizens were calling. I always called one man. I kept true to my term. I had a chat with him, and it was going to be one. I always made one visit. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) was said to be burning up the lines. I didn’t speak to Chuck at all”.
After the vote, Pelosi blamed Biden for the Democrats ‘ damage, telling the New York Times,” Had the senator gotten out early, there may have been other individuals in the competition”.
She added that although Biden’s nearly immediate support of Harris made those plans hard, that process would be open for a primary election.
” The suspense was that, if the president were to move away, that there would be an open primary”, she said, adding that Harris would have done properly in such a major process, which would have made her” stronger going forward”.
” But we don’t hear that”, she said. ” That didn’t materialize. We live with what happened. And because the president quickly supported Kamala Harris, it was almost impossible to hold a primary at the time. If it had been many earlier, it would have been unique”.

Between the conversation and his return from the competition, another Democratic incumbents who are running for reelection, including Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), switched sides.
By the time of Biden’s exit from the race, 40 House Democrats and five Senate Democrats, as well as outgoing Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV ), had called for him to drop out.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA ), a Pelosi ally,  , told the president she presented him with data “indicating that you in all likelihood will lose the race for President”.

When he left the competition, Democrats, by and large, applauded , his decision, but after Harris lost, some began blaming Biden for the damage. Besides Pelosi’s opinions, another Democrats sourced Biden as part of the group’s problem.
” He doesn’t have run”, Jim Manley, a major aide to previous Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, told Politico. ” This is no time to pull jabs or be concerned about anyone’s emotions. He and his team have caused a lot of harm to this nation.
Mark Longabaugh, a Democratic strategist and former adviser to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), said,” She ran an extraordinary plan with a very strong hand that was handed to her. Biden may have stepped down earlier and let the group craft a longer match program, according to Biden.

Biden’s campaign for president was dissented by some staff members who also worked on the vice president’s strategy.
” We ran the best plan we had, considering Joe Biden was leader”, one private secretary told Politico. ” Joe Biden is the sole reason Kamala Harris and Democrats lost now.
One Democrat acquainted with the White House’s dynamics blamed Mike Donilon and Steve Ricchetti, Biden’s leading political aides, for the loss, telling Axios,” Mike and Steve may include a lot to answer for — having him work” for reelection after turning 80.

Another people involved with Harris’s group said,” The 107-day Harris battle was almost perfect. The Biden battle that came before it was completely different.
