The Trump campaign added an initiative to Make America Healthy Again ( or “MAHA” ) with Kennedy as the incoming leader when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. endorsed Donald Trump. This nation desperately needs it because we are so dependent on fast food chains and processed foods that surrender diet for convenience.

Before the Senate even attempted to confirm him as the secretary of health and human services ( HSS), Kennedy is carrying out his plans. The beverage industry is lining up to stop him, and he wants to ban sodas and other sugary beverages from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ( SNAP ), which we used to call food stamps.
According to the Wall Street Journal,” Lobbyists for Coke and its biggest rivals are bringing their case to Capitol Hill to bring the matter into the forefront of the sale of more zero-sugar beverages.” ” These, combined with evident calorie labels on drink, allow consumers to make healthier selections, they say”.
” Soda lobbyists also point to anti-hunger advocacy groups like Share Our Strength, which argue that Congress should fund programs that aid low-income families in getting healthier food, rather than restricting SNAP recipients ‘ options,” the report continues. ” Coke and PepsiCo are commercial sponsors for Promote Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry plan”.
The fact that HHS doesn’t handle SNAP, but the Department of Agriculture does, poses the biggest challenge for Kennedy. Secretary of Agriculture candidate Brooke Rollins hasn’t indicated the level to which she’s on board with Kennedy’s interests, either.
” Kennedy, however, has big plans for the agriculture industry that may put him at odds with farmers and firms”, the WSJ information. Rollins will have to choose whether to support those ideas or to take the agency’s course with more modest support.

We have yet to see how the two agencies will work together under the Trump-Vance management, and, of course, but little depends on whether the Senate will ensure Kennedy and Rollins. However, Team Trump’s drink industry is now trying to soften the situation.
” The National Beverage Association, an industry group that represents Coke, PepsiCo, and Keurig Dr Pepper, plans to donate funds to Trump’s opening, as it has for previous president, said Kevin Keane, chief executive of the group”, the WSJ points out.

There’s another option that could help Kennedy meet this goal, and it involves the parliamentary tree.
According to International Business Times,” Congress would need to move legislation to require the elimination of sugary drink from SNAP.” ” That may take years to transpire”.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla. ) and Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-Okla. ) have introduced separate bills into both houses of Congress, these measures would take sugary foods and drinks out of SNAP benefits. Given the glacier character of Congress, but, these costs might not see the light of day for a while.
There’s another reason why sugary soft drinks don’t be part of SNAP advantages. Individuals in need can get the things they need to live, but our taxpayer dollars don’t get allowing recipients to gulp Mountain Dew or Sprite. Then again, the beer hall is strong and determined, so it’ll strive to prevent RFK at every change.
