Authorities said Saturday that two Oregon people who had left a search for a Sasquatch after failing to return from a trip to Oregon were found dead in a state bush.
The 59-year-old and 37-year-old appear to have died from exposure, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said via Facebook. The climate and the people’s lack of preparedness led the company to draw that conclusion, it said.
Sasquatch is a mythological creature that is thought to walk trees, especially in the Pacific Northwest.
The two men were found in a heavily wooded area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which is about 150 miles ( 240 kilometers ) northeast of Portland.
After they had left on Christmas Eve without returning, a family member reported them missing at around 1 am on Christmas Day.
Sixty charity search-and-rescue personnel helped in the three-day research, including canine, aircraft and floor teams. Thermal technology was used to conduct aerial searches by the Coast Guard.
Officials located the pair’s car using camera tapes off Oklahoma Road near Willard, which is on the southwestern boundary of the national forest.
