Three people died from suspected poison in Brazil from a handmade Christmas bread, causing a criminal investigation.
Tatiana Denize Silva windows Anjos, 43, and Maida Berenice Flores de Silva, 58, both died from cardiac arrest on Monday after consuming Bolo de Natal, a standard Brazilian Christmas bread, at a holiday gathering in Torres.
Neuza Denize Silva windows Anjos, 65, died on Christmas Eve, with her cause of death identified as” impact after poisoning”, according to regional medical information.
Concerns about the chocolate’s readiness were raised by the Civil Police’s confirmation that one of the deceased and two survivors had pollutants in blood tests conducted on them.
The unsettling incidents have also drawn new attention to Zeli’s husband’s demise, which is said to have died from food poisoning in September. His body will be exhumed for further investigation, according to authorities.
Another three family people, including a 10-year-old child, remain treated, among them is 61-year-old Zeli Terezinha Silva windows Anjos, who co-prepared the bread with her sister and hosted the meeting.
At Zeli’s house, authorities found expired food items and a dubious medication bottle filled with white liquid. Both items are being examined by labs.
” There were expired items in the residence”, authorities said, adding” A drink was found, a treatments, which should have had pills inside it and there were no capsules – there was a pale liquid and this white water will also be examined”.
Zeli was furthermore informed by the police that she had consumed two pieces of the bread and was the first patient to be taken to the hospital.
According to the New York Post, police said there was no evidence of parental tensions or inheritance disputes before the tragedy despite the mounting evidence.
The family history of baking the cake is regarded as a treasured occasion by a companion of one of the patients. ” It was a traditional family bread, a prince bread, which they often made”, the companion shared.
Authorities are still looking into the poison, questioning whether it was caused by accident or by deliberate harm, ruining a mother’s beloved holiday traditions.
