Union , administrators have called an ending to a five-day , attack against Amazon , by about 100 Atlanta individuals who joined staff at hundreds of different locations around the country.
The massive company denied calling for bargaining and acknowledged any effect, but labor leaders claimed that the attack had the effect of raising awareness about motorists ‘ demands for contracts that would provide better pay and conditions.
” We told , Amazon , there would be consequences for not coming to the table”, said , International Brotherhood of Teamsters , spokeswoman , Kara Deniz , in a written statement. ” There were. The , Teamsters , know then that Amazon is scared”.
The union contends that hundreds of drivers work for Amazon for a reason, and one of the many smaller shipping companies that handles packages has one of its employees. The business argues that they are companies.
Individuals claim that the majority of their work, if not entirely, is for Amazon, and that they operate vehicles that are marked as such.
Amazon spokesperson , Kelly Nantel , rejected the government’s steps as” a fake narrative”.
She said Amazon has invested more than$ 2.1 billion with the vendors — known as , Delivery Service Partners , — for education and to improve health. In order to increase their pay and prizes, Amazon announced it would provide the DSPs$ 660 million over the course of the next year.
But, the DSP individuals do not work for Amazon, Nantel said.
The coalition says it had fence ranges at about 200 Google sites. In metro , Atlanta, vehicles and supporters walked a protest column near a large Amazon facility in , Alpharetta.
The individuals who have joined the , Teamsters , or took part in the attack represent a , smaller share of the workplace that delivers thousands of packages , to Amazon clients.
Drivers and , Teamsters , administrators said they did not expect the big organization to cave immediately to demands about acknowledgement.
We are still compelled by law to ask Amazon to come forward, as they are officially required to perform, Deniz said. ” As barricades break for the trip, make no mistake that the , Teamsters , will never let up and staff will not cease fighting for their freedom at Amazon”.
