Far-right activist Laura Loomer, known for her controversial rants, apologised on Sunday for publicly sharing Indian-American entrepreneur and Trump’s nominee for senior policy advisor on artificial intelligence Sriram Krishnan‘s personal information through Federal Election Commission (FEC) records. This apology came after US President-elect Donald Trump broke his silence over the ongoing H-1B row, expressing support for the program and agreeing with the views of Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Sriram Krishnan, and David Sacks.
Announcing the apology on social media platform X, Loomer wrote:
“I deeply apologize for accidentally doxxing Sriram @sriramk by sharing public FEC records with his personal info. It was an honest mistake, and I take full responsibility. I’ve removed the post and I promise that I will be more careful in the future when I post FEC records.”
“I was posting FEC records which are public information. I was not trying to inflict harm on anyone, & if @sriramk felt as though I was trying to “doxx” him, I sincerely apologize for that. I promise I wasn’t doxxing & I believe more speech is the answer. Not less. @elonmusk,” she said in another X post.
Loomer clarified that she wouldn’t apologise for her views on immigration, saying:
“I won’t apologize for my views on immigration but I wanted to make it very clear that as a journalist I was posting publicly available FEC records. Not doxxing. I know @elonmusk doesn’t care because he doesn’t like me, but I am telling the truth. FEC makes that clear too.”
Loomer’s criticism of Krishnan
Loomer has openly criticised Krishnan’s appointment as Trump’s AI advisor, alleging that Krishnan seeks to eliminate all caps on green cards, allowing foreign students to take jobs in the US that should go to Americans.
In a recent post on X, Loomer accused Krishnan of disloyalty to Trump, claiming he donated to Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign and didn’t vote for Trump in 2024. “Hey Sriram Krishnan, what is this? Why did you donate to Kamala Harris’s Presidential Campaign less than one month before the 2024 Presidential election? You didn’t even vote for Trump… Now you want to infiltrate his admin?”
Loomer’s tweet sparked intense debate online. Her post accusing Krishnan of betrayal triggered widespread reactions from social media users, many questioning Krishnan’s loyalty to Trump. Some even called for his removal from his role as Trump’s AI advisor.
Trump’s stance on the H-1B row
Trump addressed the ongoing H-1B row on Saturday, saying that he has always supported the program.
“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” he said, supporting the views of Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Sriram Krishnan, and David Sacks.
Controversy over H-1B program
The controversy escalated with MAGA supporters imploding as ally Laura Loomer clashed with Elon Musk, and Donald Trump’s silence on the issue was striking. Earlier, Trump criticised the H-1B program and limited access to foreign worker visas during his first term. However, he recently said that anyone graduating from US colleges and universities should automatically receive green cards. This shift in stance on H-1B visas has made the issue more significant, as the Trump administration may introduce changes to the program that allows companies to hire foreign workers.
Musk’s war against Republicans
Elon Musk’s growing influence has led to concerns among America First activists about his position on expanding the H-1B visa. The issue has become a battleground, with Musk declaring war on Republicans who oppose H-1B visas. “The reason I’m in America, along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla, and hundreds of other companies that made America strong, is because of H1B,” Musk said. “Take a big step back and F**K YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend,” he added, quoting a memorable line from the 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder.
