‘Sunshine of the newsroom’: US news anchor Annalisa Klebers says she was bullied by bosses for seeking equal pay, became suicidal

Former News12 outlet Annalisa Klebers claims that her campaign for equal spend resulted in severe office retaliation, culminating in a manic break that put her on suicide watch.
The award-winning blogger, known for her devotion and expertise, has filed a state with the American Arbitration Association, accusing her previous boss, Altice USA, of bias and abuse.
Klebers, 42, anchored the morning announcement for News12 in Connecticut and New Jersey, earning praise from her directors, who once referred to her as the” light of the newsroom”. However, after learning that she was making$ 71 000, which is significantly less than what her coworkers ‘ compensation would be, she requested a new contract with better pay.
According to Klebers, her plea was met with hostility. She claims she was “gaslit” by control, excluded from discussions, and burdened with insulting things, for as correcting her co-anchor’s mistakes. What administration did to me permanently altered my life. I nearly lost my life. She told The New York Post,” My children came very close to losing their mother.”
Klebers, who was hired in April 2018, worked hard during the crisis, frequently managing the office by herself while covering significant events like Governor Andrew Cuomo’s regular meetings. Her efforts resulted in a$ 4,200 bonus, which was half as much as some of her coworkers ‘ received. She claims that control began to discriminate against her and also revoked her from a promotional plan she had spearheaded when she raised concerns about spend differences.
Klebers filed a formal complaint after feeling exceedingly oppressed, but ultimately made the decision to step down. But, Altice refused to approach her departure, citing the need to research her claims. The anxiety became enormous.
” On Friday, May 13, 2022, I became quite ill”, she said.
” I had a psychotic break. I was homicidal. In front of my girl, my father, my kids, and all of them.
Her father, Erik, described her as” comatose” and recounted how she constantly tried to get the car in what medics later identified as a suicide attempt. Klebers spent six days in the hospital and was put on death view.
While on illness left, Klebers was terminated by Altice. Her lawyer, Anthony Mango, stated that her job has been permanently damaged. She made this up by doing it in great devotion, which raises a problem for equitable pay.
” It’s really rendered her disabled”.
Klebers wants to get paid for her lost income and believes her situation will stop related occurrences in the future. ” This may happen to another man, woman or man, in a business setting. It should be criminal”, she said.
Altice USA has denied the allegations, stating,” News 12 prides itself on providing an inclusive and equitable work where employees can grow and are compensated based on their skills, contributions, and significance, any sex discrimination claims are entirely false, and we will protect against them rapidly”.
