Veterans who rely on the , Department of Veterans Affairs ‘ , online companies will now have more secure ways to access their wellbeing and gains data.
Starting on , Jan. 31, the , VA , may require all consumers to log in using one of two safe practices.
Veterans who get their information and solutions on My HealtheVet,  , VA. gov , or through the , VA: Health and Benefits portable application will be required to use , Password. gov , and , ID. me.
The shift allows users to use multifactor authentication, which will enable them to access services with confidence and properly verify their identity.
Brian Stephens , is the Communications Chief for the , VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System. He said this shift is great for the soldiers the , VA , serves and is also essential.
” We’re trying to push this out so that on February first, we don’t have soldiers that are, you know, upset because they didn’t get in and sign in”, said Stephens.
Stephens even said, soldiers who don’t make the switch by the date may gain entry to , VA , online service. Some of which, include: safe communications, prescription refills, scheduling appointments, impairment promises and more.
” It’s not a situation where, February first, things are going to be erased or they won’t have”, said Stephens. ” It’s only, they won’t be able to get that”.
Although the change may be painful for some, Stephens said the , VA , has solutions for those who may have some help with the fresh approach.
” They may come to the hospital…there is life enable”, said Stephens.
Individuals can visit www. for precise instructions on the online tutorials and videos. va. gov/sign-in-changes.
There’s also a life support solution which veterans can get by calling the MyVA411 support line at 1-800-698-2411.
As always, soldiers can also browse their local , VA , center.
” So, it is frustrating, and this is really due to security and to really make sure … veterans can be a very vulnerable population”, said Stephens. Without going to this modified sign on,” they (veterans ) could be putting their health, their health information, or their benefit information in danger.”
Without these stochastic identification records, soldiers would then be directed to phone their local , VA , facilities or to visit 1-800-698-2411 to maintain their services, which could potentially lead to delays.
In a press release sent by the , Department of Veteran ‘s , Affairs, there are differences between the two different multifactor authentication platforms that veterans should take into consideration.
Login. gov , is described as being,” simple and user-friendly, perfect for veterans who prefer an easy setup and already use federal services like TSA PreCheck or , FEMA”.
ID. me , offers, “robust identity verification options, ideal for veterans seeking military discounts or additional verification methods like video calls”.
