Bangladeshi Americans, Buddhist, and Christians have urged the US President-elect Donald Trump to stable quick transfer of arrested Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das. Additionally, they have asked for Trump’s continuing hostility against religious and racial minorities in the nation.
The party suggested that Bangladesh’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions be linked to the end of domestic ethnic and religious persecution in a memo sent to Trump.
Additionally, the memo demanded that a complete majority protection act be passed to fully understand minorities and indigenous groups.
According to a media release, key recommendations included the creation of protected zones, a distinct voter for minorities, and the passage of laws to fight hate crimes and hate speech. All of these were done to protect spiritual practices and cultural heritage.
Das, a previous Iskcon head, was imprisoned on November 25. A Chattogram judge afterwards sent him to jail after he’d rejected his bail application. Das is accused of waging retaliation because he reportedly insulted the flag of the country. The event is scheduled to be heard in court on January 2, 2025.
