Laura Loomer, a far-right advocate, apologized for sharing personal information with Sriram Krishnan, an Indian-American businessman who is Donald Trump‘s nomination for senior policy advisor on artificial intelligence. After Loomer faced criticism for publicly disclosing information about Krishnan’s background using Federal Election Commission ( FEC ) records, Loomer accepted an apology.
Loomer, known for her controversial speech, had made headlines just after President-elect Donald Trump expressed his support for the H-1B card program. In a social media post on Saturday, Trump affirmed his support for the system, which has been a vital subject of debate due to its role in bringing foreign staff, including Krishnan, to the U. S.
” I have some H-1B permits on my components. I’ve been a disciple in H-1B. I have used it several days. It’s a fantastic program”, Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Loomer, who has a long record of vocal opposition to immigration laws that allow foreign nationals to enter the United States, was shocked by Trump’s support for the H-1B system. In her post on X ( formerly Twitter ), Loomer shared FEC records detailing Krishnan’s financial history, which included personal information about the nominee. Some people accused her of “doxxing” Krishnan, the practice of making public information available with the intention of harm, and the reaction was immediate.
In her later apologies, Loomer acknowledged the error, referring to the event as an “honest error” and assured fans that she had removed the article. I sincerely regret unknowingly disclosing Sriram @sriramk by sharing sensitive information with people FEC information, Loomer wrote. ” It was an honest mistake, and I take full responsibility. I’ve taken down the post and swear I’ll be more cautious when posting FEC information in the future.
But, Loomer even attempted to clarify her purpose. ” I was posting FEC files which are common knowledge. I was never trying to inflict damage on anyone”, she said. I sincerely regret for @sriramk’s feeling as though I was trying to “doxx” him. I promise I wasn’t doxxing &, I believe more talk is the truth. No less”. She further reiterated in her explanation that she believed in completely speech.
Loomer continued to hold onto her controversial opinions regarding immigration despite regretting the doxxing affair. She explained that she had only shared publicly accessible FEC records as part of her job as a journalist and that she had never apologized for her vocal position on the subject. I apologize for my opinions on immigration, but I wanted to make it very clear that I was posting publicly accessible FEC records as a blogger. Never doxxing”, Loomer added. ” I know @elonmusk doesn’t attention because he doesn’t like me, but I am telling the truth. FEC also makes that obvious.
Loomer had recently criticized Krishnan’s election to Trump’s AI expert status. She claimed that instead of hiring American workers, he wanted to impose green card constraints to make it easier for international students to work in the United States. Additionally, Lopez claimed that Krishnan allegedly donated to Vice President Kamala Harris ‘ strategy and that he did not vote for Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Krishnan, who has long been a well-known number in the technology sector and a close ally of figures like Elon Musk, has yet to respond to allegations made by Loomer in a public manner.
