A hunter accidentally shot a man who mistakenly saw him as a deer in a situation that has prompted the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries ( LDWF ) to remind hunters of the importance of safety, according to Fox news.
The shooting occurred on December 23 in Zachary, a town located in East Baton Rouge Parish. A report involving two hunting on a small, personal house where both people were hunting elk was received by law enforcement.
According to LDWF, the two hunting, who had permission to hunt on the land, were conscious that they were on the same property. The other man was shot with buckshot by a warrior who had falsely identified him as a deer.
The gunman immediately called 911 upon realising his error. The uninjured person was transported by air to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with non-fatal injury. The place of his wounds was not provided by authorities.
Law enforcement discovered that neither warrior was wearing the needed orange clothes nor had deer keywords with them when they were conducting an investigation, leading to the citation of the gunman for both transgressions.
As the research gets going, further charges does come up, according to the LDWF. The company has also sent a message to all hunters to give health precedence in the interim. Often wear orange, as required by law, and positively identify your goal and the environment before firing your weapons, LDWF was cited as saying to Fox information.
This work together to prevent instances like this and make sure anyone enjoys the outside carefully, the division declared.
