Rapper , OG Maco died Thursday evening after suffering from a self-inflicted gun wound , earlier this month, his household confirmed on Friday.
After a cousin called 911 for the sounds of gunfire inside a home, the 32-year-old Atlanta native had been hospitalized in Los Angeles since December 12. First responders arrived to , get Maco with a gunshot wound to the head , and a rifle near his brain, according to TMZ.
The singer, who was born Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., was taken to the hospital and quickly underwent surgery. Though his relatives recently said , his situation had stabilized, he died after his position while in a coma , worsened to essential problem, TMZ reported.
In an effort to get rid of the poisons in his structure, doctors were reportedly having trouble getting a reliable brain scan. He was later unable to be revived.
His family posted , expression of his death , to cultural internet Friday.
” With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco”, they wrote. ” His life was a bible to endurance, creativity and boundless love. Through his songs, love and unwavering spirit, he touched but many lives and left a lasting effect”.
OG Maco sprung onto the music scene in 2014 with his , viral hit” U Guessed It” . , The following year, he was named to , XXL’s 2015″ Freshman Class” , , honoring him as one of the 10 new artists “defining the new wave of hip-hop”.
