Tiana Lowe Doescher from The Washington Examiner provided an overview of what Democratic politicians need to do in the coming decades, suggesting that the group needs to get rid of its “geriatric” image going forward.

Liberals need to address the group’s “unpopular” laws, as Doescher noted that the majority of voters favored Trump and his plan to impose massive deportations of illegal immigration. Over time, the Biden administration “knew that the inflation issue was a chance,” which was a chance when promoting the Build Back Better effort.
” So yes, distancing themselves from Pelosi, Biden, what is perceived as form of a romantic and isolated era of Democratic politics, that is important, but also what is the coverage option to really the spirit of 2020’s previous that has still been disturbing Democrats”? Additionally, Doescher discussed how some Progressives have thought about trying to rebrand themselves as politicians and how Dan Osborn, who ran as an impartial, was “fairly” Political with his plans but “did a great job” of distancing himself from Democrats and portraying himself as a moderate.  ,
The other factor pushing some Democratic lawmakers away from the party is how it underwent a” coordination” with its candidates, citing how the party “mostly coordinated” former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as their nominee in 2016 and “overtly coordinated” Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, both of whom lost the general election.  ,

Ahead of Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025, outgoing Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV ), who left the Democratic Party in May 2024, described how his former party had become” toxic” in recent years, arguing it completely changed from when he originally joined the party. He also hoped that Trump’s upcoming second term as president may be fruitful for the nation.
The most recent Democratic senator to keep her group is Florida state Rep. Hillary Cassel, who joined the Republican Party over her ex-party’s “failure” to help Israel and ability to “relate to regular Floridians”. Her group transfer was praised by Trump in a speech online, which invited another” Disillusioned Democrats” to do the same.
