How NYC Subway horror victim Debrina Kawam was identified: ‘Charred beyond recognizability’

How NYC Subway horror victim Debrina Kawam was identified: 'Charred beyond recognizability'
When Deborah Kawam was sleeping, she could only stand up when she was entirely burned.

The victims of the New York subway attack were generally ashes, which placed the authorities in front of a deceased end as trying to figure out who the victim was became difficult. They quickly discovered that the victim had some flexibility issues and was an older woman who had been thrown on fire because she had a turner by her side.

    New Year Specific

Julian Zapeta-Kalil, the accused, claimed he had no recollection of setting the person on fire.
The NYPD drew criticism for their cheerful conduct after the horrifying event, and the researchers discovered that the girl was 61-year-old Debrina Kawam from New Jersey. She was a poor person. There is no proof that Kawam knew Zapeta-Calil, the 33-year-old improper immigrant, who set her on fire.

    Fingerprint information helped authorities

There was nothing else available, so investigators relied on biometric data, medical records, and DNA evidence to determine the victim’s identification. They even gathered subway security film in an effort to locate the woman’s face clearly before the fire.
When Zapeta-Calil boarded the train in Queen, the girl was already on it. They both rode in Coney Island to the end of the line.

Why did Zapeta-Calil laid the girl on fireplace?

After imprisonment, the culprit said he had no memory of the incident. They did not know each other. Therefore, the tragic event looks like a weirdo one that the offender did out of intoxication. Kawam was sitting still, perhaps asleep, when Zapeta-Calil walked away, took out a lighter and laid her on fireplace. Finally, after leaving the station, he sat on a chair and looked up at the smoke and the fireplace. When he set her on fire, he even waved a top at her, which just made the flame spread.
A viral videos showed a NYPD standard moving by as the victims on the system were screaming, and Zapeta was still on the program when the NYPD reached the woman, but they did not notice him as they looked after Kawam. His pictures were finally released after his body cameras had been captured. Three teenagers called 911 and alerted the policeman that Zapeta-Calil was traveling on a different coach in Brooklyn.
