Thousands of protesters, led by student protesters, marched through Dhaka on Tuesday, calling for the prosecution of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. During a nationwide uprising that overturned Hasina’s 15-year concept in July, protesters demanded justice for the hundreds of deaths.
The” March for Unity”, organised by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, began at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar.

Hasina’s test was chanted for by activists, and her Awami League group was urged to be banned. Addressing the march, action leader Hasnat Abdullah declared,” Since August 5, we have no more foes in Bangladesh. Our only opponent is the Awami League”.
Hasina fled to India on August 5 after months of racial turmoil, where security forces were accused of repressing protests with overwhelming force. The rebellion, which claimed hundreds of lives, ended her career as the government’s longest-serving prime minister.
Bangladesh seeks Hasina’s abduction
Last month, Bangladesh officially requested India to apprehend Hasina, who faces several expenses, including crimes against humanity for the deaths of activists. A word verbale, a formal political information, was sent to India on Monday.
Bangladesh’s international director Touhid Hossain confirmed the creation, stating,” We sent a statement verbal to the American government, saying the Bangladesh government wants her up here for criminal process”. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs acknowledged certificate of the plea but declined to provide further information.
Under the 2013 abduction agreement, amended in 2016, crime claims are excluded from being classified as “political crimes”.
The agreement states that “extradition may be rejected if the crime for which it is requested is an crime of a social personality.”
International and local emotions
Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, has committed to prosecuting those accountable for the violence. Yunus has sought global assistance, including from the International Criminal Court. We will ask that India recompense the dictator Sheikh Hasina, according to Yunus.
However, Hasina’s son, Sajeeb Wazed, has criticised the fees as politically driven. Speaking from the US, he called the charges a “witch kill” aimed at undermining his family’s reputation.
