FBI rules out involvement of four suspects seen planting bombs near New Orleans truck attack

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has ruled out the presence of four people who were originally thought to be helping Shamsud-Din Jabbarin in the New Orleans vehicle assault that claimed the lives of at least 15 individuals and injured dozens. Three men and one woman were seen on surveillance video planting explosives at various locations close to the strike site, causing a global alert. However, researchers have today excluded their relation to the attack, according to a New York Post record.
Additionally, according to the report, at least three IEDs, which were tube weapons with distant casings, were discovered at or close to the scene. Investigators are looking into possible connections to foreign terror organizations.
Despite clearing these people, specialists also believe Jabbar may not have acted only. Federal officials suggested that Jabbar, 42, was not” only dependable” for the attack. ” We do not think that Jabbar was entirely concerned. FBI assistant special agent in command Alethea Duncan told reporters, adding that authorities were looking into a “range of suspects.”” We are violently running down every prospect, including those of his identified partners. Governor of Louisiana Jeff Landry also mentioned that law enforcement was “hunting down bad people.”

The incident
The incidentoccurred at approximately 3:15 am local time in New Orleans’ French Quarter during New Year’s celebrations. Jabbar drove a truck through barricades and into a crowd at Bourbon and Canal streets. He was killed in a subsequent gunfight with police, leaving two officers injured but expected to recover. The attack resulted in at least 15 deaths and 30 injuries.
Jabbar’s link to Isis
Inside Jabbar’s white Ford F-150 electric pickup truck, authorities discovered an ISIS flag, weapons, and a potential Improvised Explosive Device ( IED ). More than 20 IEDs could have been used, and FBI bomb technicians are looking into whether or not the devices were working.
Additionally, three homemade pipe bombs were discovered, two of which were put to the test on-site. Jabbar drove the truck at “very high speed” and in a “very intentional” manner, according to police. Anne Kirkpatrick, the superintendent of police, described the attack as being planned and labeled Jabbar a “terrorist.”
Jabbar’s background
Jabbar, a Texas native and Army veteran who served from 2007 to 2020, including a deployment to Afghanistan, was an IT specialist and real estate agent. The FBI verified his citizenship in the US and is looking into possible links to terrorist organizations.
