Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT ) unleashed a scathing rebuke of Elon Musk’s support for H-1B visa workers in a statement posted to the billionaire’s social media platform on Thursday.
Musk and President-elect Donald Trump have voiced their support for the H-1B immigration system, which brings qualified immigrants to the United States. Some right-wing journalists have criticized the programme for eradicating American jobs.
” Elon Musk is wrong”, Sanders wrote on X. The main purpose of the H-1B immigration system is not to employ” the best and brightest,” but rather to remove well-paying American positions with low-wage indentured employees from overseas. The more income the billionaires make, the lessen the amount of work they employ.
Smith then cited statistics that 33 % of new information technology jobs are filled by “guest personnel” and explained in his speech that “millions of Americans with superior levels” don’t have jobs.
The Vermont liberal physically criticised Tesla for firing 7,500 American workers “while being allowed to employ thousands of H-1B visitor workers.” The legislator criticized the entire immigration system, noting that foreigners work as “dog trainers” and “massage therapists” as well.
