An increased law enforcement presence continued across , Las Vegas , Thursday, a day after a Tesla Cybertruck carrying gas and commercial fireworks  , exploded outside the , Trump International , hotel , on the Strip.
The Tesla car hapless individual — identified as an Army military part from , Colorado , — , took his life moments before Wednesday morning ‘s , fire,  , Clark County , Sheriff , Kevin McMahill , said Thursday.
The deputy categorized the blast as a bomb. Seven persons suffered minor injuries.
While researchers said they hadn’t determined a cause, McMahill said he was assured the neighborhood was safeguarded.
” We don’t think that there’s any further danger from this area or anything associated with him here in Las Vegas”, said McMahill about , Matthew Livelsberger, 37.
The blast occurred days after hundreds of thousands of revelers , rang in 2025 on the Strip and city Las , Vegas.
A slew of local, state, and federal law enforcement merge on the tourist corridor every New Year’s Eve to protect residents. According to McMahill, Tuesday evening’s festivities went without a hitch.

McMahill noted “very strange connections” between both situations. Nevertheless, he said no proof had emerged to hyperlink them.

Reacting to the blast, the deputy extended the Metropolitan Police Department’s New Year’s Eve personnel levels through Friday.

North Las Vegas , police agent  , Djuan Muldrew , said Thursday that the office “is continuing to work with our law enforcement partners. Our main objectives are to maintain vigilance in order to protect the safety of our members and partners.
Henderson , said its officers department can install more tools if needed.
A spokesperson wrote in an email that” we are also a part of the interagency command post and remain available to assist ( Metro ). The City of Henderson has no known known problems right now.
The Nevada Highway Patrol , said it will continue to work with local law enforcement lovers.
They “are prepared to respond to any hazards or problems that may come on during this fresh time”, trooper , Shawn Haggstrom , wrote in a statement.
Haggstrom urged drivers to be diligent and report any suspicious engagement to 911 or *647.
Casinos safety protocol
The Trump resort was evacuated and customers were taken to , Resorts World , after the storm.  , The damaged home has since reopened , with a Metro police SUV stationed outside the doorway Thursday.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reached out to the casinos about their safety measures. Private security clubs are known to work with and educate local authorities.
A spokesperson for The Roman Resort Las Vegas stated that the hotel is well-equipped to handle any unexpected events and has a strong safety program in place. ” As a matter of training, we do not give detailed information regarding our safety process, however, the hotel’s team works closely with local law enforcement agencies regularly. Our top priority is always to ensure the safety of our guests and team members.
Wynn Resorts , and Resorts World declined to comment, with the latter referring to McMahill’s comments.
McMahill expressed being surprised by the explosion after” successful” New Year’s Eve police efforts.
” That’s certainly something we’re gonna have to look at”, he said about “hardening” security protocols.
Analyst: limited tourism impact
Josh Swissman, founding partner and managing director of , Las Vegas-based , GMA Consulting, which analyzes gaming and tourism, said he doesn’t think the Strip incident will have any long-term effects on tourism in , Southern Nevada.
You consider how many people stay in all the hotels along the Strip, he said. There aren’t really many places in the world like that, so security is a top priority and that’s why they continue to evaluate, refine, and basically stay ahead of the bad guys, probably more than most other locations in the nation.”
The , Consumer Technology Association  , is days away from opening CES, a massive four-day consumer electronics trade show that is expected to bring up to 150, 000 people to , Las Vegas.
