In an interview on Wednesday, comedian Jim Gaffigan expressed regret that Donald Trump’s followers had been making a number of disparaging comments on social media during the upcoming presidential election.
Gaffigan, who lately starred alongside Trump as Minnesota Governor and former Democratic vice presidential candidate, was a featured guest at the Al Smith meal. Tim Walz on” Saturday Night Live” during the 2024 election period, expressed his regret during an interview , on a podcast episode of The Daily Beast’s” The Next Laugh” that aired on Wednesday.
” I regret that it seems like I was criticizing those who back Trump. And that was never the intention”, Gaffigan said. ” I regret — one said like, then I can’t observe you again and I sort of said’ F you’ to them”.
Gaffigan explained that despite regretting how Trump supporters criticized his messages, he does not repent publishing the remarks on social media.
” It’s crazy because I think integrity is really an important point, not only as a actor, but also with your children”, the actor said. Gaffigan added,” For me, I don’t regret it, but I also do recognize that there are true , die-hard Trump fans , who perhaps enjoyed my funny, but because they feel so strongly will”.

In August of 2020, Gaffigan criticized Trump and made joy of Trump supporters. He tweeted,” Glance Trumpers I get it. I was a Young fan when I was younger, and I now know that you will continue to support your team regardless of circumstances. However, he is a traitor and a fraudulent person who doesn’t care about you.  , Full down you know it.  , I’m sure you enjoy pissing people off but you know Trump is a hypocrite and a criminal”.
In another article on X, previously Online, Gaffigan slammed Trump for his administration’s answer to the COVID-19 crisis, saying,” You know Trump simply creates rivals.  , You know you didn’t trust him.  , You know he been ignorant during this crisis.  , You know all those folks didn’t have to death.  , Trump speaks about the Space Program and you can’t comfortably go to a video. Wake up”.
During Wednesday’s radio show, Gaffigan noted that one of the classes he has learned while working as a stand-up artist is that “you’re going to lose people”.
“You’re even going to bring people”, he added. ” But there are going to be people who are like, you know,’ I don’t have children, I think he’s interesting, but I don’t get this.'”
