After a car accident on Christmas Day in East Hampton, Edward Yedid, 46, co-founder of the architecture firm Grade New York, was detained for driving while intoxicated. Following the crash, Yedid reportedly told the family in the other automobile,” Sorry, my car just accelerates actually fast”.
Who is Edward Yedid?
Edward Yedid is a well-known internal architect and co-founder of GRADE New York, a full-service design agency with a focus on architecture and interior design. He gained reputation in 2019 for co-authoring New York Contemporary: Grade Architecture and Interiors.
Yedid was even featured in a report titled” Cool Hot Areas in the Hamptons: Edward Yedid’s Favorite Tips” on The Invisible Collection site, an upscale home-goods market.
The report recommends supper at Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor in keeping with his delicate taste. “Edward’s Friends — Dinner at Le Bilboquet, Sag Harbor — beautiful, on the water, great food and service, feels like Europe and the atmosphere is energetic”, the report notes.
The affair
When he veered into oncoming visitors, Yedid was reported to be driving his 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S at great speed on Newtown Lane around 2: 30 p.m. The artist, described as dressed in “head-to-toe custom clothes”, collided with a 2016 BMW SUV occupied by a family of three en route to view the video Wicked.
All parties involved received minor accidents at a nearby hospital.
Victim describe Yedid
Arianna Thomas, 30, a customer in the BMW, claimed she smelled liquor on Yedid as he exited his car after the accident. ” We was taste drinking immediately”, she said. ” He was wearing head-to-toe designer clothing when he got out of the car, eyes fully bloodshot”.
Police corroborated evidence of alcohol, noting Yedid had “bloodshot crystal eye”, was “unsteady on his toes”, and smelled of beer. A breathing sample was provided in response to their claim that he “performed ill on all defined field tests.”
Thomas also alleged Yedid apologized, saying,” Sorry, my vehicle only drives actually quick”. The artist asked if the home was fine, to which Thomas responded,” I told him never to speak to me”. When authorities inquired about his drinking usage, Yedid allegedly replied,” Just now”?
Thomas said in his reflection on the incident,” showed how rapidly life may change.” She noted wounds on her right thigh, her partner’s cuts and bruises, and her husband’s back pain. ” We were in the clinic for Christmas”, she added.
We had a minute to relate, the statement read.
Thomas recounted that she, her companion, and her dad were” lightly driving” along Newtown Lane when Yedid’s gold Porsche immediately rounded a corner and struck their car.
” We just had a minute to relate, and he just smashed into us”, she said. Thomas credited her husband’s swift backlash for averting a more serious head-on motion. Her father swerved, which she and the police report claimed caused the Porsche to hit the top remaining of their vehicles.
Costs against Yedid
Yedid was taken into custody and taken to Southampton Hospital, where he was later told to go home on December 27 to finish his incarceration proceedings. According to police data, he will be arraigned in court on January 8 for trial.
He faces costs including driving while intoxicated, failing to keep straight, ridiculous speed, and driving an uninspected car.
