Original article:  , Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La. ) has failed to obtain the vote required for the first round of voting to become the House Speaker.
The second round’s last score:
- Mike Johnson: 216 seats.
- Hakeem Jeffries:  , 215 , vote
- People:  , 3 seats.
A 218-vote bulk was needed to win the senate.
Although Johnson successfully prevented the government from ending its closure before Christmas, the GOP was critical of his conversations over the ongoing solution. Some people expressed their desire to replace him with fresh management despite strong doubts about his capacity to lead successfully. With the gathering holding just a razor-thin bulk, Johnson was just able to afford to lose only one Republican vote — assuming total attendance.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky. ) previously indicated he would not vote for Johnson, but Donald Trump, who expressed support for Johnson last week, has taken an active role in rallying support from other holdouts and undecideds, urging potential holdouts to back Johnson.  ,
However, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S. C. ) voted for Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio ) for speaker, and Rep. Keith Self (R-Texas ) voted for Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla. ).  ,
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich described the Democrat holdouts as” a wonderfully stupid and homicidal strategy.” ” And they’re going to appear like stupid”.

Trump’s strategy was simple: avoid a turbulent speakership battle that could undermine his plan from the outset. The drawn-out debate to get Johnson’s nomination in the first place served as a powerful reminder of how detrimental inside GOP issues may be. Trump sought to dispel these divisions by applauding Johnson, acknowledging that a fracturized Republican Party may give the Democrats a substantial advantage at the start of his second word.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-Ga. ) had previously criticized Johnson but came around, understanding the need for Republican unity to support the Trump agenda.
For our Celebs:  , Hey, GOP: Mike Johnson Is Not the Enemy!
Johnson, according to ABC News, made the decision not to split any offers in the lobby to win votes. He has emphasized his desire to advance the establishment without making compromises during Kevin McCarthy’s turbulent presidency.  ,
” My simple concept to my acquaintances is]to] make recommendations about operation and improvements. We are always willing to do that. But I don’t make bargains with anyone”, he said. ” There’s no quid pro quo here. I only commit to making this entity work as efficiently and effectively as possible in exchange for a vote.
” In the previous Congress, McCarthy was forced to join Republican hardliner needs to be elected speech after a four-day election procedure”, ABC News reported. His death occurred only seven months after being forced out of leadership by a select few GOP members due to one of those demands, which was a lower threshold for bringing a motion to abandon.

However, Trump’s endorsement of Johnson unfortunately wasn’t enough to quickly overcome the GOP bickering, leaving the future of the MAGA mission in trouble. A united Republican Party is essential to advancing Trump’s optimistic state perspective. Without unity, Republicans risk failure, and any hard-won benefits from 2024 could become squandered if they cannot offer substantial benefits for the British people.
The main issue is that Johnson has no apparent heirs to date. Speculation about potential replacements, including Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio ), Tom Emmer (R-Minn. ), and Byron Donalds (R-Fla. ) has intensified the past couple of weeks, but none of those candidates are likely to get universal support from House Republicans.  ,
It’s disheartening that Republicans didn’t resolve their internal conflicts behind closed doors, otherwise dragging the nation through a drawn-out debate over the speakership. The GOP needs nothing more than obstacles or continued section when Trump takes office on January 20 if a speech is elected by that time. If Republicans fail to come up, it will be almost impossible to drive Trump’s plan through Congress.
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas ) stated in a post on X Thursday evening that” President Trump was given a Authority by the American people to correct our state” and that “hard work doesn’t start until we come up as a conference and get to work.”

Without a speaker, the House is effectively paralyzed. It cannot conduct routine business, including the swearing-in of members. More significantly, a delay in electing a speaker could disrupt the constitutional process of certifying Trump’s anticipated victory in the 2024 presidential election. Kamala Harris is presiding over the certification, which is scheduled for January 6 for the final certification. The president pro tempore of the Senate, in this case, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa ), would effectively serve as acting president until the speaker vote is resolved.
This is a scenario unheard of in American history.
