The 2024-2025 College Football Playoff winners may not be known for a few more months, but some players have now decided who the real game MVP is.
Players from several groups have taken the time to thank Jesus Christ for the impact He’s had on their individual athletic careers over the past several days. For instance, Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard used his postgame interview to praise his Lord and Savior for putting the Fighting Irish in a position to reach the semifinals of the playoffs following his team’s 23-point victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday ( 23-10 ).
” First of all, I just want to bless my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Him, I wouldn’t be here, we wouldn’t be here as a whole class”, Leonard said. ” I’m just so thankful for this option. This is a wonderful issue, and a dream come true”.
The Notre Dame player threw for 90 miles and one touchdown pass on Thursday’s Sugar Bowl. He was later given the title of the game’s insulting MVP for his achievement.
Leonard wasn’t the only person to give the brilliance to Christ during his playoff pregame interview, however.
Will Howard, the quarterback for Ohio State, praised Jesus after the Buckeyes won the game-tying victory on Wednesday ( 41-21 ) over the Oregon Ducks. With a complete player grade of 97.7, Howard finished the game with 319 yards and three touchdowns.
” First and foremost, I had the honor of thanking my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for allowing me to perform on this step and in the Rose Bowl,” Howard said.
Christ’s appearance was even felt during Wednesday’s contest between the Texas Longhorns and Arizona State Sun Devils.
After the former won the overtime game ( 39-31 ), Longhorns running back Nik Sanders and Sun Devils running back Cam Skattebo made kneel for a postgame prayer. Skattebo was named Offensive MVP of the Peach Bowl, racking up 143 rushing feet, 99 receiving feet, 42 passing yards, two rushing scores, a moving score, and a two-point change.
Even in defeat, Boise State Broncos personnel eulogized Christ following the team’s Tuesday loss ( 31-14 ) to the Penn State Nittany Lions. No matter what happens in a podcast press conference, Broncos head coach Spencer Danielson declared,” I’m going to always provide Jesus the glory, whether it be win, lose, or attract,”” No matter what.”
” I’m so blessed to be the head manager here, and we do provide a hero. And I do know God not says oops”, he said. ” As painful as evening is, as a company and as a mentor, I do think we learn and grow from everything”.
After his team defeated the UNLV Rebels to win the Mountain West Conference finals and first-round playoff spot last month, Danielson somewhat gave Jesus” all the splendor.” His ostensibly hostile attitude toward some of his athletes has appeared to have hurt him, one of whom thanked Danielson for bringing him to Christ following Tuesday’s defeat to Penn State.
” Discipline D, you changed my life. You changed my life”, Broncos defense close Ahmed Hassanein told Danielson during Tuesday’s postgame presser. ” I didn’t realize God until I arrived in Boise State.”
