Israel’s government made it known on Thursday that it had secretly seized a Syrian missile manufacturing facility that was reportedly funded by Iran in September 2024.
The brave raid, known as” Operation Some Ways,” was carried out by 120 aristocracy soldiers and targeted a facility with the nickname” Deep Layer.”
The mixture, built into a rock near Masyaf—over 200 miles from Israel—was apparently used to create precision-guided weapons for Hezbollah and the Assad government. The Israeli Air Force released images of the function that shows the meticulous planning and execution of Unit 669 and Shaldag.
Soldiers were seen boarding helicopters at an unknown bottom, getting at the Arab target page under the cover of night, according to images released by the defense. After finishing their mission, the camera captured troops entering the compound amid gunfire and carefully returning to Israeli place.
According to the Jewish government’s speech, the service contained advanced assemblage ranges designed to produce precision-guided rockets and long-range rockets. These arms were apparently intended for Hezbollah, Iran’s strong proxy in Lebanon, as well as other Tehran-aligned teams in the region. The site’s essential equipment and documents were returned to Israel with their originals.
” The men destroyed the compound and comfortably returned to Israeli territory”, the statement said, pointing out agency’s success. The government also noted that the objective was supported by flames and intelligence-gathering procedures involving plane, fighter jets, and maritime vessels.
One of the few instances in which Israel has publicly acknowledged its activities within Palestinian territory is this discovery. Since the pandemic of Syria’s civil war in 2011, Israel has conducted thousands of attacks on Iranian-linked targets in the country, aiming to limit Tehran’s effect and reduce arms transfers to Hezbollah.
Up until December 2024, Bashar al-Assad’s government had mostly avoided presence in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which broke out after Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. His regime was under the control of Iran-backed President Bashar al-Assad.
