Republican Mike Johnson was congratulated on Saturday by the newly elected US president-elect Donald Trump on being re-elected as home speech. Trump said Johnson will be a “great speech” and that America will be the recipient.
Trump congratulated Johnson for “receiving an extraordinary vote of confidence in Congress” in a blog on his ‘ Truth Social ‘ system, adding that Americans have waited four times for common sense, power, and authority, which they will then find.
” Gratitude to Speaker Mike Johnson for obtaining a remarkable Vote of Confidence in Congress. Mike will be a Wonderful Speaker, and our Country will be the recipient. The People of America have waited four times for Common Sense, Strength, and Leadership. They’ll get it now, and America may be greater than previously before”! the president-elect said in his blog.
Earlier, Trump had said that Johnson’s re-election as House Speaker would be a “big get for the Republican Party”.
” Good luck today for Speaker Mike Johnson, a fine man of great ability, who is very close to having 100 % support. A victory for Mike now will be a significant win for the Republican Party, and it will be yet another recognition of our 129-year, most significant National Vote! – A BIG AFFIRMATION, INDEED. MAGA”! Trump stated in a Friday Truth Social article.
Mike Johnson re-elected as home speaker
Overcoming first opposition from within his own group, Mike Johnson won the House senate on Friday as the 119th Congress rolled out. Johnson was unable to receive the 218 seats in the opening large. Two Democratic staff, Ralph Norman of South Carolina and Keith Self of Texas, immediately changed their seats, allowing Johnson to succeed in the next square.
According to Punchbowl News, Trump reportedly spoke with Norman and Self before they switched their vote. With 434 people current, Johnson needed 218 votes to win. The only dissident vote was cast by Kentucky member Thomas Massie.
Some Republicans were against Johnson and worked to stable their aid before the vote. The congressional certification of Trump’s 2024 election victory on Monday could have been hampered by the loss to choose a speech.
” We don’t have time for drama”, Johnson commented upon arriving at the Capitol.
