In accordance with the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program, Canada will no longer accept new applications for permanent home in 2025. According to IRCC, they will only review applications for home sponsor submitted in the Parents and Grandparents Program in 2024.
For 2025, IRCC aims to practice no more than 15, 000 funding programs.
The very visa option, which allows appointments lasting up to five years per stay, is still available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who wish their parents or grandparents to stay long in Canada.
Parents and Grandparents funding project: What is it?
Citizens of Canada and permanent residents can partner their parents or grandparents to obtain permanent residency in Canada through the Parents and Grandparents Program.
The program uses a lottery system to send software invitations because there are far more serious sponsors than open positions. Donors who submitted their curiosity forms during the 2020 use period were invited to IRCC to participate in the program from 2020 to 2024.
Cause for disqualification
IRCC has reduced permanent resident goals by 20 % for 2025, affecting the PGP planning. The 2025 goal for PGP crossings is presently 24, 500 foreign citizens.
This is a major improvement over the previous Immigration Levels Plan, which had goals of 32, 000 for 2024 and 34, 000 for 2025.
