Bangladesh’s top adviser Muhammad Yunus assured a European MP that the surveys would be entirely “free and good” on Saturday by sharing two possible timelines for the upcoming general elections: December 2025 or mid-2026.
” People may not vote in the last three elections. There was a false parliament, false MPs, and a false speaker”, Yunus told UK MP Rupa Huq, in an apparent reference to claims of vote-rigging during the stints of the now-ousted Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League state.
He even shared with Huq the events that led to the July large uprising and the “repression of the people” under the leadership of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
When Huq inquired about the preliminary meeting for the general elections, Yunus provided the timeframes for December 2025 or mid-2026. transformation initiatives undertaken by the time state of Bangladesh, and the involvement process of political parties, according to the main attorney’s hit wing.
The national elections are likely to be held between the conclusion of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, according to Yunus on December 16 of last year.
