DALLAS: A flames that broke out at a shopping center in Dallas on Friday night killed more than 500 pets, most of which were little birds, authorities said.
According to a speech from Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans, the 579 wildlife in the pet store at Plaza Latina in Northwest Dallas passed away from smoke inhalation.
The fire’s lights not reached the species. Chickens, hamster, two puppies and two animals also died, Evans said.
According to Evans, it took 45 firefighters and about two hours for the two-alarm fire to end around 11 am ( local time ).
” While DFR officers did research and test recovery, all species in the shop sadly perished due to smoke inhalation”, Evans said.
No one was hurt in the flames, according to the report. The construction of the big, one-story buying center was heavily damaged, including a half fell roof, Evans said.
The shopping center has several small businesses, and it was described on its Facebook site as” a place where people go to have, and purchase all kinds of Latin goods and services.” In a message posted on the site in Spanish, people asked for prayers for the local families.
Evans claimed that an analysis is being conducted into the fire’s origins.
