According to Fox News, a New Jersey man admitted guilt on two counts of second-degree death on Thursday after killing and dismembering two people and keeping their keeps in storage units.
Joseph Jorgenson, 34, admitted to killing Manijeh” Mani” Starren and Fanta Xayavong, whose bodies were found in backup services in 2023.
The remains were discovered after Jorgenson’s dubious attitude prompted a police investigation.
In April 2023, Starren’s parents reported his child missing. Officials immediately identified Jorgenson, her sweetheart, as a think. On surveillance video, he was seen carrying a backpack and duffel bags to Starren’s residence. After searching the room, authorities found traces of blood, which led them to Jorgenson’s storage device in Woodbury, where Starren’s remains were found in cooler and a huge bag.
When officers learned of a previous relationship between Jorgenson and Xayavong, Jorgenson’s relationship with them became apparent. Xayavong’s remains were discovered in a distinct storage bag in Coon Rapids after she had been missing since July 2021. DNA found on a backpack case confirmed Jorgenson’s presence.
Jorgenson admitted killing Xayavong in a heated discussion at his Shoreview residence. He dismembered her figure and stored the bones in the Coon Rapids storage facility after her death.
According to Ramsey County Attorney John Choi,” These heinous acts of cruelty took the lives of two young people and permanently altered the future of their friends and family.”
As part of a petition bargain, Jorgenson will serve two simultaneous 40-year words, the maximum for second-degree death. On February 28, he is scheduled to receive his sentence.
