New Orleans tragedy: British victim linked to royal family, King Charles III reacts

After learning that Edward Pettifer, 31, a British family of his brothers ‘ former nanny, was one of the victims in the New Orleans truck-ramming event, King Charles III on Saturday offered condolences.
The King had reportedly reached out to the home to express his private condolences, according to the UK press relationship news agency.
It was “understood the King was… greatly saddened, and had been in contact with the family to share personal sympathies”, the UK’s Press Association news agency said in a statement.
The Prince and Princess of Wales even expressed shock and sadness over the tragic passing of Ed Pettifer on their Kensington Palace social media accounts. The Pettifer household and other parties who were affected by the event were comforted by their thoughts and prayers.
The Pettifer household and all the innocent people who have been cruelly impacted by this brutal attack are in the couple’s thoughts and prayers, the couple wrote in a post on Kensington Palace’s social media account.
Edward’s half-brother Tom, who is Prince William’s nephew, had served as a page child at the royal ceremony in April 2011.
Tiggy Legge-Bourke, then Pettifer, was appointed by Charles in 1993 as William and Harry’s sister following the imperial isolation. Her home and the imperial family had close relationships.
The Pettifer home released a statement expressing their disaster, describing Edward as” a beautiful boy, brother, nephew, brother, and a friend to so many”.
A US military veteran, apparently swearing allegiance to the Islamic State group, drove a pickup truck into masses in New Orleans ‘ French Quarter on January 1. Authorities later assassinated the intruder.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed his sadness on X, confirming the country’s help for the victim’s home and its support for the US in the fight against terrorism.
