At least six persons, including armed forces, were killed, and more than 25 people injured in a bombing on Saturday in Pakistan’s Balochistan state.
A vehicle carrying armed forces from the Frontier Corps (FC) was attacked as it traveled about seven km north of Karachi to Turbat.
” At least six persons, including FC soldiers and civilians, were killed in a bomb attack on a bus”, Rashid-ur-Rehman, a senior local authorities formal, was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.
The bombing was blamed on Balochistan Liberation Army ( BLA ) territory. Jeeyand Baloch, the party’s spokesperson, said the assault targeted a fleet of Pakistani military personnel.
A mature police official was quoted as saying by media company PTI that “high-ranking police agent SSP Zohaib Mohsin was in the vehicle along with his home and could have been the goal”. A wedding celebration took place on the vehicle with the top police official and his home.
The BLA generally claims role for assaults on security forces and non-local Pakistanis, especially those from Punjab, in Balochistan province.
In recent months, there have been more episodes in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The defense reported that in 2024 only, 383 soldiers and 925 extremists have been killed in various conflicts.
Balochistan, which edges Afghanistan and Iran, has faced years of religious, cultural, and dissident violence. Additionally, local militias have targeted foreign-funded power projects, accusing local authorities of ignoring local people while ignoring the area’s natural resources.
In November, separatists claimed responsibility for a bombing at Quetta’s railroad train that killed at least 26 people, including 14 men. In August, the BLA carried out coordinated attacks involving lots of assailants, killing at least 39 persons, one of the highest fees in recent years.
